Ongoing from 7pm – midnight

The gay bar on the terrace of Spring Workshop will be open on Saturday evening from 7pm until midnight. Acts will be ongoing throughout the evening.

The residency is dressed as its fictional double, the setting for the script we’ve been writing while at Spring. We’ve been chopping the space to bits, moving through it and around it, displacing our own narrative inside of it. Acting it out in pieces, terrified that whatever we write comes true in a spiritual audit, an institutional reprise, a phantasm of a more productive present.

Karl on the balcony. Karl in the kitchen. Pablo on the balcony. Sarah in the kitchen. Karl on the couch, with the book I’ve been trying to read for 6 months. Ella on her phone. Ella in the kitchen. Georgia in the shower.

For the next four weeks, we will be subletting Spring Workshop while we collectively write a script about sovereignty, production, love and intellectual property. At Spring we will control the insides, the furniture, the subdivision of space, and who spends the night. The doubling of the space and its power structures allows for alternative narratives to unfold within the imagined site of production while questioning the existing logics of taste and hospitality.

Collaborators: Caroline Busta, Georgia Gray, Karl Holmqvist, Joe Kay, Daniel Keller, Pablo Larios, Ari Benjamin Meyers, Ella Plevin, Jan Vorisek, and more to come.
