Latitudes & Nadim Abbas Invited by Latitudes to participate in their work Incidents of Travel, artist Nadim Abbas has created a day-long itinerary which plots a course through a handful of sites in the city, which have in one way or another influenced the form, content, and processes of Nadim’s practice. Since Hong Kong has been his home for most of his life, some of these places have been all too familiar to him since childhood. This project now offers him the opportunity to spring fresh surprises on unsuspecting “tourists”, and possibly on himself as well.
Limited places. RSVP essential.
The first RSVP’s will receive a confirmation and additional information.
Please bring suitable walking shoes. Packed lunches will be provided.

Latitudes & Heman Chong Please save the date for food, film and a conversation between Heman Chong and curatorial duo Latitudes about what they found on their month-long Moderation(s) residency in Hong Kong. Additionally, Bibliotheek, a collection of books selected by Moderation(s) participants that will function as a bibliography for the project, will be on site at Spring as a reading library throughout the Moderation(s) project. Future participants will be invited to suggest books, creating an ever-expanding common library that can be easily replicated by any individual, community or institution. The first version of Bibliotheek can be found here. We invite you to come spend time reading. |

“OS XXI: Contemporary Art and the Digital” As part of the Para/Site International Art Residency Programme, Claire Bishop will in residence at Spring in Hong Kong. Her talk looks at how the art market still revolves around visual artefacts produced as one-offs or in limited editions, and bearing traces of the artist’s hand. At the same time, it presents the question of how we increasingly consume art digitally – whether through search engine queries, online databases, or through photographic documentation. Is visual art guilty of repressing its relationship to new technology? Does its attachment to the aura of obsolete media (such as analog film, slide projections and archival installations) mean that visual art itself is soon to become outmoded? Spring is delighted to co-host Claire Bishop in the Para/Site International Art Residency Program. |
