Spring is delighted to partner with SAHA Association to welcome curator Ozge Ersoy to a research residency this summer in Hong Kong. Ersoy, a curator and arts writer based in Istanbul, will be looking at the question of how exhibition and collecting practices in Hong Kong formulate indirect political attitudes toward the present. She will explore what types of long-term artistic/cultural engagements are needed in places where there is a constant negotiation of historical ruptures and a feeling of mourning. Ersoy is the program manager of collectorspace, a nonprofit organization that brings private art collections to public view and promotes critical discussions and writing on contemporary art collecting practices. She is also the managing editor of m-est.org, an online publication conceived as an artist-centered initiative. Most recently Ersoy acted as assistant curator of Sarkis: Respiro at the Pavilion of Turkey in the International Venice Biennale (2015) and was the artistic director of the artist-run initiative 5533 in Istanbul (2014). We are grateful for the generous support of Ozge Ersoy‘s residency from the SAHA Association, which aims to contribute towards the presence and visibility of contemporary art from Turkey and offers its support to artistic projects working in line with this vision. SAHA directly collaborates with international arts institutions for the realization of commissioned or invited projects, acts as a facilitator in the project development phase and raises funds if and when necessary. SAHA aims to improve the education and production infrastructure of artists, curators, art historians and critics working in the field of contemporary art and to enhance their interactions with international networks.
