Spring is delighted to announce that October will bring the artists MAP Office and writer/composer Michael Friedman in Wong Chuk Hang.

On October 12-13 at Spring, the Atlas of Asia Art Archive that MAP Office created as AAA Artists-in-residence will bloom into three-dimensions in the first event of ‘Performing the Archipelago’, a series of events in which artists have been invited to activate parts of the 111 territories through readings, conversations, and performances.  During this event, we are pleased to welcome Ho Tzu Nyen and Jewyo Rhii as guests.

Throughout the entire month of October, the acclaimed New York writer/composer Michael Friedman will be in residence. True to form, Michael will be investigating Hong Kong culture from many angles and meeting several local artists and academics to learn about their practices and politics.  At the end of his stay on October 27, Michael will then take to the keyboard to play through some songs for us.  There will also be a workshop for avant-garde musical theatre enthusiasts.  (Please contact us for further info on the workshop.)  More details on October’s events can be found below.

We look forward to welcoming you at Spring.

Performing the Archipelago

Continuing the Atlas of Asia Art Archive, an atlas installation of real and imaginary places found in Asia Art Archive which was developed during their AAA residency, artist/architect duo MAP Office will present ‘Performing the Archipelago’.  ‘Performing the Archipelago’ is a series of events that explore the possibility of cultural exchange and dialogue between a selection of artists included in the Atlas. The first of the programme is a two-day event that takes place at Spring Workshop with 7 artists from the region, including Ho Tzu Nyen (Singapore), Lam Tung Pang (Hong Kong), Lee Kit (Hong Kong), Li Yifan (Chongqing), Joao Vasco Paiva (Hong Kong), Jewyo Rhii (Seoul), and Yuk King Tan (Hong Kong).
