Talk: “The Fragments That Resist The Story”

Please join us and Spring’s artist-in-residence Aslı Çavuşoğlu for a talk entitled “The Fragments that Resist the Story” on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 12pm at Asia Art Archive’s A Space.  This talk is part of an ongoing series of conversations with visiting artists held at AAA over a light lunch, and will be Aslı’s only public event during her time in Hong Kong.

On the talk:
“The Fragments that Resist the Story”
Aslı will discuss the art of backward construction in her practice with a focus on chronicling the history of a murder, of art or of a nation.

On the artist:
Aslı Çavuşoğlu (b. 1982, Istanbul) is an artist and writer whose projects examine the way in which cultural and historical facts are transformed, represented, and interpreted by individuals. Working across various media, Çavuşoğlu often assumes the role of an interpreter, writer or facilitator in her projects in order to highlight the precarious and subjective nature of our shared histories. Recent solo and group exhibitions include Arter, Istanbul (2013); Delfina Foundation, London (2013);Gallery NON (2013); MAK Museum, Vienna (2013); Frieze Projects, London (2012); Art Museums of Bergen Permanenten, Bergen (2012); 11th Baltic Triennial of International Art, Vilnius (2012); Performa 11, New York (2011).
